HOLYLAND TOUR OF JORDAN-ISRAEL & EGYPT

Day 1 -  Departure

A convenient evening flight takes you to Jordan.

Day 2 -  Amman

Arrive in Amman where our host will meet, assist and transfer you to your hotel. (D)

Day 3 - Amman/Jerash/Amman

After breakfast take an orientation tour of Amman. Continue to Jerash, the "Pompei"of the Middle East. The most beautifully preserved Greco-Roman city in existence. Here you will have an opportunity to visit the Hadrians Triumphal Arch, Hippodrome and a mile long street of columns. (B,D)

Day 4 -  Amman/Petra

Departure to Petra. Visit the " Rose Red City " half as old as time. Carved from living rock over 2,000 years ago it can only be reached by horseback or carriage. Carved into the colored mountains are the High Palace, the Monastery and the Roman styled Palace Tomb. (B,D)

 Day 5 -  Petra/Jerusalem

Cross the border to Israel. Enter the walled city at Jaffa Gate on foot. Visit the Tower of David and its exhibition on the history of the city over the ages. Walk through the streets of the Jewish Quarter to the restored Roman Cardo which was the main street of Jerusalem during the Roman occupation. Continue to the Western Wall, the last remnant of the second temple. Ascend the Temple Mount and see the Dome of the Rock and the El Aqsa Mosque. Walk along the Via Dolorosa passing the stations of the cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Proceed to the Garden Tomb (Gordon's Calvary). Our last stop today will be to Bethlehem to visit Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. (B,D)

Day 6 - Qumran/Massada

Depart Jerusalem via the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Stop in Qumran and view the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Ein Gedi, where David fled from King Saul. Continue to the mountain fortress of Massada. Ascend by cable car to visit the excavations of the site where the Zealots made their last stand against Romans in the 1st century. Time and weather permitting, enjoy a swim in the Dead Sea. (B,D)

Day 7- New City of Jerusalem

After breakfast drive to the Israel Museum to visit the Shrine of The Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Continue to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust. Visit the scale model of ancient Jerusalem. Proceed to Mt. Zion to see David's Tomb, the Dormition Abbey and the Room of the Last Supper. Return to Jerusalem for overnight. (B,D)

Day 8 - Tiberias

Visit Capernaum, situated on the Sea Of Galilee. Continue to Tiberias, visit the Yardenit, the Baptismal site on the Jordan River. Proceed to Nazareth, visit the Church of Annunciation, continue to Beit Shean to explore the ancient ruins. The day ends with a visit to a Kibbutz. Return to Jerusalem for overnight. (B,D)

Day 9 - Jerusalem/Tel Aviv/Cairo

Morning drive to Tel Aviv where you will board your aircraft to Cairo. Welcome to Egypt! Our representative meets, assists you through custom formalities and transfers you to your hotel. Enjoy an orientation tour of the city. (B)

Day 10 -  Cairo/Giza

After breakfast a scenic drive will take you to the Pyramids & Sphinx of Giza which have stood for the last 5000 years. Continue to ancient Memphis the first capital of united upper and lower Egypt and Sakkara site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser. (B,L)

Day 11 - City Tour

This morning your guide introduces you to the masterpieces of ancient art in the Egyptian Museum, including the incredible treasures of Tutankhamun. After lunch drive to the Islamic quarter to stroll the Great Citadel begun by Saladin and visit the Mohammed Ali Mosque, also known as the "Alabaster Mosque". The day ends with a walking tour of the Khan El Khaili Bazaar. (B,L)

Day 12 -  Cairo

The day is at your leisure or you may join the Optional 5 day/4 night cruise along the Nile from Aswan to Luxor, or join an Optional tour of Old Coptic Cairo or to Alexandria. (B)

Day 13 -  Cairo/ Amman

Farewell to Egypt as you depart for Amman. Arrive in Amman and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B)

Day 14 -Departure

Farewell to the Holyland as you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
