1. Wear the right clothes
In your home country, you may wear short-sleeved shirts, tank tops, or shorts in your country. But in Egypt where the sun is so intense, this is a bad idea. Much of your skin is exposed to the hot rays (making you feel warmer than usual) and harmful ultraviolet rays (which can cause sunburns, skin damage, or skin cancer after prolonged exposure). It’s better to wear a loose long-sleeved shirt and pants to protect you from the sun. Better yet, wear something the locals wear; they know how to deal with the heat in their own land better than anyone else.

2. Wear sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat.
Your eyes are some of the most sensitive and easily damaged parts of your body. Protect your eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses (they also make you look really cool) and a hat with a wide brim.

3. Bring plenty of water.
Under the hot Egyptian sun, you will be more susceptible to sunstroke and dehydration. Stay cool and hydrated by drinking and bringing lots of water.

4. Avoid drinking coffee.
Coffee is a diuretic. This means, it squeezes your fluids out, making you prone to dehydration. Skip on coffee and drink juices or water instead.

5. Slop on sunscreen.
The higher the sun protection factor (SPF) of the sunscreen, the better. Sunscreen protects your skin from UV rays. If you’re sweating a lot, you may have to re-apply sunscreen every now and then.

6. Be in the right physical condition.
Do not go out into the sun if you’re feverish or if you’re not feeling well. The sun can drain your energy and can make your condition worse than it already is. Stay in the hotel and rest thoroughly.
